Brooklyn lost the series opener to Oneonta by a score of 4-1, despite banging out 10 hits against the Tigers The Cyclones hit for the cycle as a team, but were unable to win. The loss drops the team's record to 13-15.
3B Zach Lutz (pictured, by George Napolitano) continued his hot hitting, going 2-for-4 with a solo home run, raising his team-leading average to .343. 2B Josh Satin also added a pair of hits, including a triple. OF Angel Pagan played his fourth straight rehab game for Brooklyn, and went 2-for-2.
RHP Pedro P. Martinez (0-1) made his sixth start of the season and got his first decision of the year, resulting in a loss. Martinez pitched five innings, allowed four runs and struck out three batters. RHP Erik Turgeon made his Cyclones debut and pitched two scoreless innings. LHP Jimmy Johnson notched his team-leading 11th appearance of the year and pitched one scoreless inning.
The Cyclones continue their series against Oneonta on Thursday. They return home to face the Staten Island Yankees on Sunday. Sunday’s game will be presented by Local 926, and kids run the bases after the game. In addition, former Brooklyn Dodger George "Shotgun" Shuba will be in attendance.
