2007 All-Star Jake Eigsti got a chance to shine in a Mets' Spring Training game this Sunday, and the former Cyclone took full advantage of his opportunity.
Eigsti entered the 4-4 game as a defensive replacement in the top of the 8th innng, and immediately made an impact when, with the go-ahead run on third base, he made a play to his left, and held the runner before tossing to first for the out. In the bottom of the inning, Eigsti came up in a big spot again, batting with runners on first and second, and the score still tied.
Eigsti responded by pulling a double inside the third-base line and into the left-field corner to put the Mets on top with two RBI. Eigsti was one of the top run producers for the '07 Cyclones (his second year with Brooklyn), driving in 32 runs in 66 games, with nine doubles, two triples, and two home runs.
