His eight strikouts give him with a NY-Penn League best 48 Ks on the year. Brooklyn's bullpen -- Erik Turgeon, Matias Carrillo, Michael Powers, and Mike Lynn -- then held Aberdeen scoreless for the final six frames.
Down by two runs in the bottom of the eigth, the Cyclones fought back, scoring two runs to tie the game. One run came from an RBI groundout by 1B
Sam Honeck and the second by way of a clutch hit by DH
Tyler Vaughn to score CF
John Servidio, who walked.
In the 14th, SS
Robbie Shields ignitied things with a lead-off infield single. Shields reached third after a sac bunt by 2B
Luis Nieves and a groundout by Servidio. With
C Ralph Henriquez at the plate, Aberdeen's pitcher tossed a wild pitch over the catcher's head, and Shields slid into home with the winning run.
The Cyclones look to continue their club best 26-11 start on Tuesday, July 28th as they will again host the division-rival Aberdeen Ironbirds at KeySpan Park courtesy of Dime Savings Bank.
