Box Score

The Cyclones could not hold on to a ninth-inning lead on Wednesday night, and dropped their second game in a row to Auburn, losing by a score of 6-5. Brooklyn's overall record of 35-18 is still best in the NYPL, and good for an eight-game lead for first place in the McNamara Division.

Brooklyn's bats tallied five runs on eleven hits, scoring one run in each of the three innings to come back from a two-run deficit, taking the lead in the top of the ninth. DH Joe Bonfe and C Blake Forsythe each registered 3-for-4 nights with Forsythe adding one run scored. SS Luis Nieves went 1-for-3 with two RBI in just his second game back from injury. The remaining three RBI came courtesy of 2B J.B. Brown, LF Will Cherry, and 3B Brian Harrison, with a second inning single to center, a ninth inning single to right, and an eighth inning sacrafice fly to center, respectively. RF Cory Vaughn and 1B Jeff Flagg rounded out the offense, each going 1-for-4.

Brooklyn's pitching allowed six runs (five earned) on 10 hits while striking out 11. LHP Angel Cuan (pictured, by George Napolitano) made the start and tossed six innings surrendering four runs on seven hits while walking three and striking out seven. RHP Johan Figuereo came on in the seventh inning to throw two scoreless innings allowing just one hit while striking out four. RHP Ryan Fraser (2-2) came on in the ninth inning for the save but surrendered two runs (one earned) on two hits, snapping his scoreless inning streak and giving Brooklyn its first loss of the year when leading after eight innings.
