OFFENSIVE FIREWORKS

The Cyclones continued their offensive outburst, sweeping Williamsport with a 9-2 win in a Fourth of July matinee.  Brooklyn had ten total hits, with five players collecting two hits each, led by 3B Zach Lutz and RF John Servidio, who both hit home runs back in the fourth inning.  

1B Ike Davis extended his hitting streak to nine games with a 2-for-4 effort and four RBI.  Davis now has at least one hit in every game he has played and is batting an even .300 on the year.  2B Brandon Richey continued his hot hitting, going 2-for-3 and scoring three runs.  And C Cesar Cordido was the last Cyclones player to notch two base hits, going 2-for-3 as well.

RHP Jeff Kaplan made the first start of his professional career, picking up the victory in five innings of work.  The Cal State Fullerton product did not give up a run, allowing four hits with two strikeouts.  RHP Montero Cruz followed Kaplan and pitched 2.2 innings with four strikeouts.  RHP Manny Olivares closed out the game for Brooklyn, throwing 1.1 innings of perfect relief.  

The Cyclones return home on Saturday, July 5 at 6 pm to face the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. On Saturday, the first 1,250 kids (14 and under) will receive a 28-inch wooden bat. It will also be Backwards Night at KeySpan Park, os ekam erus uoy emoc tuo dna troppus eht senolcyC!

Also on Saturday, July 5th Mets legend Darryl Strawberry will be signing free autographs at KeySpan Park, beginning at 5pm.  Strawberry will sign one item per person on the Concourse level in front of the team store, and will sign autographs from 5pm - 6pm.  Make sure you get to the ballpark early!
