Endy Chavez Joins Cyclones Coaching Staff

Cyclones manager Edgardo Alfonzo won’t be the only Mets icon on Coney Island this summer, as Endy Chávez – who made one of the most memorable catches in post season history as a member of the 2006 Mets, will serve as a coach for the Brooklyn Cyclones in 2019.

Endy was originally signed out of Venezuela as a teenager and began his playing career in the Mets organization from 1996-2000 prior to the Kansas City Royals claiming him in the Rule V Draft. Most notably, Endy was a member of the Mets from 2006 – 2008, which was highlighted by his acrobatic home run robbery in Game Seven of the 2006 NLCS.

Chavez, 41, finished a 21-year playing career in 2018 as a member of the Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League and last played in the major leagues in 2014.
