The New York Mets today announced that Rich Donnelly has been added to the Brooklyn Cyclones coaching staff as a Bench Coach for the 2018 season. Donnelly, who brings over three decades of Major League Coaching experience to the team, served as the Cyclones manager from 2011-2013 and is just one of two Cyclones managers with over 100 career victories. Most recently, Donnelly served as the third base coach for the Seattle Mariners from 2014-2015.
Donnelly will serve as the Cyclones manager for the team’s Opening Series against the Staten Island Yankees – including Opening Day at MCU Park on Saturday – while manager Edgardo Alfonzo is away from the team during his induction into the Latin American Baseball Hall of Fame. “Fonzie” is expected to rejoin the club early next week.
The 2018 season begins on Friday, June 15th when the Cyclones head to Staten Island to take on the Yankees ay 7:05 PM. The two teams will square off at MCU Park on Coney Island on Saturday night at 6:30 PM to open the Cyclones home slate. Limited tickets are still available for Opening Day. The Cyclones will then take on the Hudson Valley Renegades for a three-game set starting on Monday, June 18th. Single game tickets start at just $12 and are available now at BrooklynCyclones.com/tickets.
