New York Mets pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka will make the start on Thursday for the Brooklyn Cyclones as part of his Major League Rehabilitation Assignment.  It's a Jersday Thursday at MCU Park when the Cyclones take on the Staten Island Yankees at 7:00 PM.

Matsuzaka, who is 3-3 with a 3.87 ERA in 28 games / 9 starts with the Mets this season, will become the 20th major leaguer to rehab with the Cyclones and the second to do so this season.  RHP Dillon Gee made two rehab starts with Brooklyn on June 29th vs. Staten Island and July 4th vs. Aberdeen.

The 33-year-old righthander last pitched for the Mets on July 24th and was placed on the Disabled List on July 26th with inflamation in his right elbow.   Thursday will mark his third rehab start after pitching for St. Lucie (August 11th) and Bingamton (August 16th).  In his most recent outing with the B-Mets, the Tokyo, Japan native tossed 6.0 innings, allowing one run on three hits en route to a 2-1 victory in an abbreviated, seven-inning doubleheader game.

Matsuzaka will be the third Japanese-born player to rehab with Brooklyn, joining Tsuyoshi Shinjo (2001) and Kaz Matsui (2005).
