Brooklyn NY – July 20th  After yesterday's pitching duel, both clubs came out swinging as they combined for six runs and 15 hits. After a full day of rain, a sellout crowd of 8,177 fans came out to support the Cyclones, but unfortunately the home team fell to the Yankees by a score of 4-2.

Luis Mateo struggled through the first three innings of the game surrendering three runs, three hits and walking two batters. Matt Snyder led off the top of the second with a double down the right field line to get the Yankees off to quick start. Ravel Santana then grounded out to Phillip Evans, moving Snyder to third with one out. Fu-Lin Kuo then singled up the middle to score Snyder and give the baby bombers a 1-0 lead.

Claudio Custodio led off the third inning for the Yanks by singling up the middle, which was promptly followed up by him stealing second base. Taylor Dugas and Exicardo Cayones would both walk to load the bases with no outs. After Saxon Butler lined out to Evans, Matt Snyder singled to right field scoring Custodio and Dugas, and moving Cayones to third. Mateo would regain his composure and get the next two batters out, but not before the Yankees took a 3-0 lead.

It took until the fifth inning for the Cyclones to put a run on the board. After Jonathan Clark led off the inning with a walk, Richie Rodriguez grounded into a fielder’s choice. Brandon Nimmo then struck out for the second out but his teammates would pick him up as Evans singled to put runners on first and second. Kevin Plawecki then came up and singled to center scoring Rodriguez and cutting the lead to 3-1.

After Mateo gave up a home run in the sixth to make it a 4-1 lead for the Yankees, the Cyclones struck back for a run of their own. Jayce Boyd led off the inning with a double to right center and then went to third on a wild pitch. Eudy Pina then came up and doubled down the left field line to score Boyd and cutting the lead to 4-2.

The Cyclones will take on the Staten Island Yankees tomorrow at Richmond County Bank Ballpark at 7:00 PM. On Sunday, July 22nd the Cyclones return to MCU Park to take on the Yankees at 5:00 PM as Hansel Robles is on the mound.
